APAV statistics: children and youngsters victims of crime and violence 2013-2018

The Portuguese Association of Victim Support releases the reports: APAV Statistics: Children and Youngsters Victims of Crime and Violence 2013-2018 and Infographics: Supporting Children and Young People Victims of Sexual Violence (January 2016-May 2019).

Between 2013 and 2018 APAV supported more than 5600 children and youngsters victims of more than 9500 crimes. And between january of 2016 and may of 2019 the CARE Network supported 881 children and young people who were victims of sexual violence, as well as 140 family and friends.

APAV has been devoting special attention to this issue since January 2016 with the creation of the CARE Network, a specialized support network for children and youngsters victims of sexual violence.

16th edition of the APAV Solidarity Race

On May 25th, the 16th edition of the Solidarity Race of the Portuguese Association for Victim Support was held.

This initiative once again had a solidarity objective, with the value of the registrations to be reverted to the daily support that the APAV provides to victims of all types of crime and violence.

The race had the technical organization of Xistarca, with the institutional support of the Lisbon City Council and with the sponsorship of EPAL - Empresa Portuguesa das Águas Livres and D. Pedro Hotels.

Campaign #respectbattles wins awards

The campaing “Fight hate with respect” #RespectBattles own several prizes.

This campaign, developed by the Carmen agency (YoungNetwork Group) for APAV – within the scope of Project Hate No More –, was honored with the 2018 Rainbow Award from ILGA Portugal and two prizes at XXI Creatives Club Festival.

The 2018 Rainbow Awards ceremony took place on January 12th at the Time Out Market in Lisbon and featured performances by three rappers - Papillon, Estraca and Malabá - who performed three #RespectBattles themes live.

This campaing, as mencioned, also won prizes at the XXI Creatives Club Festival with one silver in the category Brand Experiences and one bronze in the Advertising category.

The XXI Creatives Club Festival took place on May 18th at the Santa Clara Market in Lisbon.

In memoriam: Eva Larsson, Brottsofferjouren Sverige

"Eva Larsson, the Secretary General of Victim Support Sweden has passed away at the age of 60 after a period of illness. She will be remembered for her tremendous efforts for victims of crime.

"It is with great sadness we inform you of Eva's passing. Eva has been the driving force in developing Victim Support Sweden and working to ensure that all victims of crime have their rights and needs met. Our thoughts in this difficult time go to her family and close friends," says Sven-Erik Alhem, Chairman of the Board at Victim Support Sweden.

Eva Larsson joined Victim Support Sweden in 1995, initially working as the manager for training within the organisation, then stepped into the role as Secretary General in 2001. Under her leadership, the organisation has developed and now provides support to approximately 70,000 crime victims, witnesses and relatives each year.

Eva Larsson's passing is a great loss for the victim support movement in Sweden. Eva worked to ensure the strengthening of support services in Sweden, both in terms of victims' rights and access to support. It is a work we will now carry on in her spirit, says Fredrik Mellqvist, Acting Secretary General, Victim Support Sweden."
