SAFE Project: training for professionals in maltreatment to the elderly
The School of Psychology of the University of Minho, through Prof. José Ferreira-Alves, is coordinating in Portugal the European project SAFE, which aims to elaborate, test and disseminate the results of the administration of a training curriculum for professionals in maltreatment to the elderly. This project is being carried out with several health, police, municipal and social institutions, namely APAV - Victim Support Office Braga, Guimarães City Hall, PSP, GNR (NIAVE), several health centers, social facilities for the elderly and the Hospital de Braga. This project includes doctors, nurses, social workers, psychologists, social educators and police forces linked to domestic violence. This project will end with a written work where interventions will be proposed at the level of public policies that help prevent and intervene on the phenomenon of elder abuse.
