“Past, present and future of specialised support to children and youngsters victims of sexual violence – the role of CARE Project” seminar in Gulbenkian
On the 20th of February, the seminar “Past, present and future of specialised support to children and youngsters victims of sexual violence – the role of CARE Project” took place in Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian. In the event, part of the celebration of the European Day for Victims of Crime – 22nd of February – was presented the work developed by the CARE Project team, as well as some of the results obtained.
APAV presents statistics on specialised support to children and youngsters victims of sexual violence
Financed by Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, the CARE Project, founded in 2016, has supported, over the past four years, 1167 children and youngsters and 154 family members and friends, with a total of 15204 appointments, as revealed in the statistical report available online.
The support requests have double since the beginning of the CARE project, going from 195 new cases in 2016 to 417 in 2019. Most victims are girls between the ages of 14 and 17, and most situations take place within the family context (52,2% of the support requests received) at the hands of fathers/mothers or stepfathers/stepmothers.
Besides the direct support to the victims, the project includes multiple educational and awareness campaigns, which have, so far, reached over 16000 people.
APAV Board 2020-2023
On January 10, APAV's Corporate Bodies took over for the four-year period 2020/2023. This ceremony, which took place at APAV Headquarters in Lisbon, was attended by the new members of the General Assembly, Board, and Supervisory Board.
Safer Internet Day | Safer Internet Helpline Statistics 2019
To mark the Safer Internet Day – 11th February, APAV presents the 2019 Safer Internet Helplinee statistics, now available online.
Working since January 2019, the service offers two different types of support: 1) report of illegal content online – hotline and 2) use of technologies related issues aid, as well as cybercrime victims – helpline. In 2019, APAV registered a total of 827 cases on its Safe Internet Line.

Also within the context of Safer Internet Day, there was a “Delete Cyberbullying” seminar, promoted by the Safe Internet Center on the 10th February, in Edifício Altice, in Fórum Picoas, in Lisboa.
APAV features Miscellanea APAV number 8
APAV features the number 8 of Miscellanea APAV. The launching was held at APAV head office in Lisbon, on December 12th. This is a magazine sponsored by APAV that aims to disseminate scientific and reflective articles on topics related to victims of crime or victim support.
This 8th edition has 4 articles related to psychiatry and domestic violence, violence in intimate relations against men, hate speech and hate crimes. This edition of the magazine is illustrated with a selection of photographs by Cláudio Carneiro.
